My dad gave me my first fully manual Pentax Honeywell in 1996, shortly after I graduated from high school. For the next decade I immersed myself in design, composition and film photography. I spent countless hours in the darkroom armed with my walkman and plenty of paper to burn. I often left frustrated, but with a strong desire to return for another round of watching chemicals do their job.
I spent almost 10 years working as a graphic designer and in 2008 when I had my daughter, 5 AM Creative was born. Seeing as I had a newborn a year into starting my company, plus graduate school, there were many late nights and many early mornings – hence the name.
During 2015, I made a goal to myself to become a Certified Professional Photographer. In October of that year, I met that challenge. I earned this designation after completing an intensive program that measures my artistic and technical competence. Professional Photographers of America currently recognizes fewer than 2,500 CPPs.
To me, the most important thing about being a photographer is capturing the story of your family. Kids aren’t always perfect, sometime we have 10 extra pounds, but that is life. Let’s have some fun. My goal is to create artwork for your home that you will look back on years from now and be really glad you called me.
